The word 'adjika' means 'salt' in Abkhasian, and it is the name of a traditional Caucasian hot and spicy relish made of salt, pepper, fenugreek, and garlic. It has also become the class name for a whole family of special thick and invariably hot tomato sauces, best suited for roasted and baked meats as well as barbecue and kebab.
